Accommodations at SOAR

Accommodations for People with Disabilities

Note: The SOAR Program takes the confidentiality of student records very seriously. Disability accommodation information will only be shared with staff members on a need-to-know basis. Requesting accommodations will not affect your admission, advising experience, or course selection.

The SOAR program works with the UW–Madison McBurney Disability Resource Center to meet accommodation needs for students, family members, and SOAR guests. Please make all accommodation requests as early as possible through your SOAR reservation.

If your needs have changed or you forgot to add an accommodation need, please update your SOAR reservation with your accommodation request. To speak with someone about your accommodation needs, please contact our staff at 608-262-4707 or soar@studentaffairs.wisc.edu.

Possible SOAR accommodations may include:

  • Mobility accommodations
  • Printed materials in electronic format (e.g., physical handouts provided digitally)
  • Extended time for advising and registration to meet student communication needs (e.g., hearing loss, visual disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, etc.)
  • Real-time captioning
  • Sign language interpretation
An Advising Staff Member speaks to students before course enrollment.
  • We can also accommodate dietary needs
  • Spanish, Mandarin, and Hmong language interpretation can be provided for parents and guests
